Tasks as a craftsman in fire protection

If you would like to get started in a skilled trade for career changers, joining us is an exciting challenge. These could be your tasks:

  • Maintenance and testing of fire protection equipment: You will check fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire doors and other safety-related installations to ensure they are working properly.
  • Maintenance and repair: As a trades career changer, you will ensure that fire protection systems are operational at all times and repair them if necessary.
  • Documentation and reporting: You document all your work and create reports that record the condition of the tested fire protection equipment.

Important requirements that you should bring with you are

  • Technical understanding and manual dexterity

  • You have a class B driving licence
  • Good written and spoken German skills (B2)

Service vehicles for lateral entrants to the trade

Our fire protection service technicians are mainly on the road in Mercedes vehicles such as the Sprinter, Vito or Citan. These vehicles are well equipped with all the necessary tools and spare parts so that even unforeseen repairs can be carried out directly on site - without additional travelling time. This not only increases efficiency, but also helps to reduce CO₂ emissions.

In addition, our modern company cars offer maximum comfort: heated seats, air conditioning and, depending on the location, auxiliary heating.

Handwerk-Quereinstieg als Servicetechniker

Cross-entry into the skilled trades offers numerous advantages. We support you in establishing yourself in your new professional field:

  • Taster day: Get your own impression of your future job as a service technician in fire protection and accompany a team member for a day. This will give you an immediate idea of what to expect.
  • Familiarisation: During the first few weeks, you will be given an intensive introduction to the work and learn everything you need to know step by step.
  • Training and further education: As a trades career changer, you can continue your training at our Fire Safety Academy. Here we offer practice-orientated training courses that will help you to continuously expand your skills.
  • Salary and career opportunities: Your salary will be adapted to your training and experience. Through further training, you can improve your financial situation and further develop your career path in the skilled trades.

Further training at the Fire Safety Academy

The Fire Safety Academy is our own training center in Rödermark near Frankfurt am Main. Your practical knowledge will be continued here to become a fire safety service technician. We have practice stations for almost all fire safety facilities where you can directly deepen the knowledge you have learned. The Fire Safety Academy offers comprehensive assembly and maintenance training in mobile, technical and structural fire safety as well as in safety technology. In over 30 different specialist courses, you will learn everything about the installation and maintenance of fire extinguishers, smoke and heat extraction systems, fire alarm systems, fire doors, safety lighting and much more. Your lateral entry into the skilled trades can now begin.

The way of your application

  • Invitation to an interview

    We get to know each other in person at the branch. 1-2 people from the specialist department take part in the interview.

  • Possible taster day

    If you're interested, someone from the service technician team will take you on a tour so that you can get to know the work of a service technician and the team.

  • Decision

    If you are successfully selected, you will receive the employment contract for signing. If it does not work out this time, we will inform you with a rejection.

How can I apply?

What qualifications do I need as a career changer in a trade to start working in fire protection?

We are looking for tradespeople who would like to work as fire protection service technicians. Completed training in a skilled trade is a basic requirement. For example, as a mechatronics technician, metalworker, electronics technician, mechanic, bricklayer and similar skilled trades. A class B driving licence is also essential, as is a good command of written and spoken German.

With your experience or technical training, you have the opportunity to enter different specialized areas, such as mobile, technical, or structural fire protection. There are basic and in-depth training courses. You can also progress to become a project or team leader. Additionally, we offer the opportunity to become certified as a fire safety officer. We provide a wide range of training courses in our own training center

How can I check the status of my application?

When you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation of receipt. Until you hear from us, your application is still under review. For interviews, we will contact you directly by e-mail or telephone. The application process usually takes two to four weeks.
