Fire safety training is mandatory – and vital

We’ve all seen the headlines. Huge fires result in severe damage to property and capital losses – not to mention the environmental impact. Fires cause all companies serious harm. They often result in production outages and business losses. Companies are therefore required to appoint employees who can fight a fire and begin to evacuate the building in a coordinated manner. Fire safety assistant training

Every employer is obliged to appoint trained fire safety assistants who know and fulfil their duties as first aiders in the event of a fire.
  • Duration: 4-6 hours
  • Location: CWS branch or at your premises
  • Group size: 10 - 15 people
  • Language: German, English
  • Costs: Depending on the number of participants

Fire safety instruction

According to ArbSchG §12, every employer is obliged to teach employees the correct behaviour in the event of a fire once a year.

FAQ

Who regulates the fire safety training?

Fire safety and evacuation assistants are trained in compliance with the following legal frameworks:

  • Arbeitsschutzgesetz (§10 ArbSchG) (“Occupational Health and Safety Act”)
  • Technische Regeln für Arbeitsstätten (ASR A2.2) (“Technical Rules for Workplaces”)
  • Allgemeine Sicherheitsvorschriften der Feuerversicherer (VdS 2038) (“The General Safety Procedures of Fire Insurers”)
  • Unfallverhütungsvorschrift (GUV-V A1) (“Accident Prevention Regulation”)

The Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung (§4 DGUV in combination with §12 ArbSchG) (“German Social Accident Insurance”) also requires managers to train their employees once a year. Whilst fire safety instruction applies to all employees, fire safety and evacuation assistant training must be completed by at least 5% of employees. This may be even more depending on the fire hazards in the company – the exact amount is detailed in the fire safety concept.

Which employees generally need to be instructed on fire safety?

According to ArbSchG § 12, the employer is obliged to instruct all employees annually on the subject of fire protection. Depending on the fire risk in the company, a shorter interval for fire safety instructions is also possible.

How long does fire safety training for employees take?

The fire protection training course lasts between 4 and 6 hours. The training is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part can also be completed at CWS as part of an online training course.

How much does fire safety training cost?

The cost of fire safety training depends on the number of participants and the training location. We will be happy to provide you with a customised quote for fire safety training at your premises or at one of our branches.
