An important part of this training is practical fire extinguisher instruction, which is enshrined in law. Paragraph 10 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, ASR A 2.2 and DGUV Information 205-023, for example, require regular fire extinguisher training.

As part of a fire extinguisher training course, participants learn about the different types of fire extinguishers and their areas of application, both in theory and in practice.
They receive instructions on how to use them and are allowed to put what they have learned into practice under supervision. A fire trainer is used for fire extinguisher training. The fire trainer simulates realistic fire scenarios on which the participants can practise using fire extinguishers. In addition, grease and spray can explosions are usually demonstrated in order to prepare the participants for a variety of potentially dangerous situations.
