According to the guidelines of DGUV information 205-023 “Fire safety assistants - training and qualification” of the German Social Accident Insurance, it is recommended that all fire safety assistants should receive refresher training every 3-5 years.
This recommendation is based on the realization that regular training is crucial to ensure safety in the workplace.
Shorter intervals in the event of operational changes!
However, refresher courses should take place at shorter intervals if significant operational changes occur. These include
- Changes to fire protection regulations in the company
- New production processes that change the fire risk or the choice of extinguishing agent
- Restructuring and staff changes
- a fire incident in the company or
- expansion of the work area.
The specific intervals for refreshing fire safety assistants should be determined by the employer in accordance with the risk assessment.
