A pressure booster system (PBS) ensures the extinguishing water supply at the outlets inside and outside the building. It maintains a constant flow pressure and volume flow in the extinguishing water pipes of a building.
A pressure booster system thus supplements extinguishing water transfer points (such as feed tanks) to meet fire protection regulations and ensure drinking water hygiene. Depending on requirements, pressure booster systems are implemented as single or double pump systems. It also includes a control cabinet and additional components that increase water pressure and ensure the required amount of extinguishing water is available in the event of a fire.

The design of the pressure booster system (PBS) for type "F" wall hydrants, above- and below-ground hydrants, as well as for use in dry extinguishing water systems, is carried out in accordance with the requirements of DIN 14462. For wall hydrants in connection with drinking water installations (type "S"), the pressure booster system must be designed in accordance with the requirements of the Technical Rules for Drinking Water Installations.
