Smoke Alarms - Consultation, Installation & Maintenance

In the event of a fire, toxic gases spread quickly and unnoticed. These can lead to fatal carbon monoxide poisoning after just a few breaths, meaning that often only a few minutes remain for the escape to safety. Smoke gas poisoning is in fact the most common cause of death in fires in Germany. Smoke alarms provide early warning of highly dangerous smoke gases in the event of a fire via acoustic and visual signals.

Areas of application for smoke alarms

  • In private households, smoke alarms must be installed in bedrooms, children's rooms, and hallways used as escape and rescue routes.
  • In commercial and public buildings, the respective state building code (LBO) and the fire protection concept specify where smoke detectors must be installed.

The legal requirements are set out in DIN 14676 (planning, installation, operation, and maintenance of smoke alarms).
