Fire Curtains
Fire Curtains - Installation & Maintenance
Fire curtains are flexible textile systems (textile fire barriers) used to create fire compartmentation in open room layouts. They are concealed in the ceiling or roof area. This means a fire curtain remains space-saving and rolled up during normal operation, and is only lowered in the event of a fire. The automatic closing of the fire curtain immediately counteracts the spread of dangerous smoke and fire gases. They are made of a special glass fabric and are available in various fire resistance classes.
Fire curtains are used above all when, for architectural reasons, an open room layout is desired or a retrofit is to be carried out. This is often the case in shopping centers, museums, event venues, hotels, office buildings, or other public buildings.
Functions and properties of fire curtains:
Smoke protection barrier, similar to a smoke curtain but with stricter requirements, i.e. it is used in the area of escape and rescue routes
Fire protection barrier holds back fire as well as smoke
Fire resistance classes for fire and/or smoke protection curtains:
E30: fire-retardant
E60: highly fire-retardant
E90: fire-resistant
E120: highly fire-resistant
Maintenance of fire curtains: A safety inspection and maintenance of fire curtains by a qualified specialist, such as CWS Fire Safety, is required every 12 months. We offer consultation, installation, and regular inspection of smoke protection curtains all from a single source.
