Fire Blanket - Consultation & Installation

The fire blanket is a supplementary aid for incipient fires, which cuts off the oxygen supply to the source of the fire. This deprives the fire of its basis and effectively smothers it. The fire blanket is suitable for fires of fire class A, i.e.  solid, predominantly organic materials (e.g. wood, paper, textiles). In addition, the fire blanket is only to be used on objects and not for rescuing people. Areas of application include commercial and public settings, such as residential areas, workshops, or administrative offices.

We would like to expressly point out that fire blankets (contrary to previous recommendations) are not suitable for grease fires. In addition, a fire blanket is not a full substitute for a fire extinguisher or other fire protection equipment. This means they are supplementary, providing quick additional help with incipient fires. Fire blankets are made of flame-resistant materials such as fiberglass fabric or flame-retardant treated wool.

Our tip: Always store fire blankets in an easily accessible location, ideally within reach of a fire extinguisher, and positioned so that the grip pockets are clearly visible. In an emergency, make sure the fire blanket completely covers the source of the fire, so that the fire is reliably smothered. Only remove the blanket once the burning material has completely cooled down.

There are no prescribed maintenance intervals for fire blankets. Nevertheless, they should be replaced immediately after use. We recommend checking the condition of the fire blanket regularly. CWS offers delivery and installation of fire blankets.
