Carbon Monoxide Detector - Consultation & Installation

Carbon monoxide detectors, also known as CO detectors, warn of carbon monoxide, an invisible, odorless, and tasteless gas. If inhaled, this gas can lead to death within a short time. Carbon monoxide is produced by the incomplete combustion of wood, coal, or gas. Around 600 people die in Germany every year as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. A carbon monoxide detector reliably and safely reduces this risk.

Areas of application for carbon monoxide detectors

Areas of application for CO detectors include private households, commercial and public buildings, as well as caravans. We recommend installing a carbon monoxide detector wherever wood, coal, or gas is used in heating systems, fireplaces, gas stoves, or gas water heaters.

How a carbon monoxide detector works

A CO detector uses an electrochemical sensor to regularly measure the carbon monoxide concentration in the air. From a certain critical value, an alarm can be triggered early. CO detectors must be replaced every five to ten years. They generally have a long-life battery. If battery performance declines, a visual or acoustic signal is given in good time. Furthermore, the CO detector should be positioned at a height of 1.0 to 1.5 m in the room to correctly measure the carbon monoxide concentration.

Important note: Please note that CO detectors are not smoke detectors and therefore do not replace them. They are only able to measure carbon monoxide. It is therefore important to also install a smoke detector in all types of buildings.
