Powder Fire Extinguisher
Powder fire extinguishers are among the most powerful fire extinguishers and reliably fight fires in fire classes A, B, and C:
Fire class A: Solid, predominantly organic materials (e.g. wood, paper, textiles)
Fire class B: Liquid or liquefiable substances (e.g. paints, tar, gasoline)
Fire class C: Gases (e.g. natural gas, methane, propane, hydrogen)
Note: Powder fire extinguishers are available as ABC or BC variants. ABC powder extinguishers cover all three fire classes, while BC powder extinguishers are only suitable for fire classes B and C.
Product features of the powder fire extinguisher
Our powder fire extinguishers are available in various versions - as stored-pressure or cartridge-operated extinguishers. You can also choose between different operating mechanisms, such as a hand lever or percussion cap trigger. The most important technical features at a glance:
Trigger: percussion cap or hand lever
Operating principle: cartridge-operated or stored-pressure extinguisher
Operating range: usable from -30 °C to +60 °C
Sizes: available in 2 kg, 6 kg, 9 kg, or 12 kg
Safety & approval: suitable for electrical systems up to 1,000 volts (non-conductive), officially tested and certified to DIN EN 3, GS, and CE
This makes our powder fire extinguishers reliably usable both outdoors (frost-resistant, e.g. garage or carport) and in commercial and industrial environments.
Usage recommendations for powder fire extinguishers
Powder is one of the most efficient extinguishing agents. Nevertheless, indoors with sensitive infrastructure (e.g. server rooms, IT, machinery), alternative extinguishing agents such as foam or water extinguishers should be preferred. Outdoors, in warehouses, or in production halls, powder extinguishers excel thanks to their high extinguishing power and rapid area coverage. Our experts at CWS Fire Safety are happy to advise you on which extinguishing agent is the best choice for your individual requirements.
Maintenance & service for your powder fire extinguishers
Powder fire extinguishers in commercial and publicly used buildings must be inspected regularly. DIN 14406 requires maintenance by a qualified expert at least every 24 months. With the all-round care package from CWS Fire Safety, we take care of:
Delivery and professional installation
Regular maintenance and inspections
Optional maintenance contracts for automatic scheduling
Our experts ensure that your powder fire extinguishers are always ready for use and inspected in compliance with the relevant standards.
Sustainability of our powder fire extinguishers
The powder fire extinguishers from CWS Fire Safety are designed to conserve resources. After replacement, the extinguishing agent is not disposed of but reprocessed using a special recycling process. This allows it to be reused and later even applied as fertilizer in agriculture. This sustainable exchange principle extends the service life of the extinguishers while reducing material consumption.
