Natural Smoke Exhaust System (NRA System)
Natural Smoke Exhaust System – Consultation, Installation & Maintenance
Natural smoke exhaust systems (NRA systems) are installed in the exterior walls and roofs of buildings. The toxic smoke and heat that quickly form during a fire, and pose a health hazard, are safely carried away through exhaust vents.
How a Natural Smoke Exhaust System Works
The NRA system harnesses the natural forces of the thermal buoyancy principle. Hot smoke and heat rise upwards and are vented through an opening (roof hatch, heat exhaust window). At the same time, fresh air is drawn in through lower openings (windows, doors). This pushes the smoke out and creates a natural air current.
The natural smoke exhaust system is triggered either automatically by smoke detectors or manually via an emergency release button.
Where Natural Smoke Exhaust Systems Are Used
Typical locations for natural smoke exhaust systems include stairwells, shopping centers, exhibition halls, sports stadiums, industrial buildings, as well as production or warehouse facilities.
Additional Benefits of a Natural Smoke Exhaust System
NRA systems with an electric drive can also be used as a ventilation system. Using smoke exhaust openings or flaps in the relevant rooms, fresh outside air can flow into the room while stale or contaminated air is extracted.
Maintenance of a Natural Smoke Exhaust System
The NRA system must be maintained once a year by a qualified specialist. In addition, the operator must carry out a visual inspection once a year.
All-inclusive package: We advise you on natural smoke exhaust systems, install NRA systems, and prepare everything for acceptance testing by an approved inspector. Once the NRA system is in operation, we are happy to take care of the annual maintenance for you. Request a no-obligation quote.
Sustainability
NRA systems use thermal buoyancy and air pressure to vent smoke from the building.
