Water mist extinguishing systems (also known as fine-spray extinguishing systems) use special nozzles and sprinklers that atomize the water so finely that a water mist is created. The water mist is characterized by a droplet diameter of less than 0.1 mm. The surface area of the droplets is very large, allowing them to absorb a particularly large amount of energy. The resulting cooling and smothering effect provides especially effective firefighting with reduced use of extinguishing water.
Water mist extinguishing systems protect people especially well, since the water mist absorbs heat and knocks down toxic smoke gases. Property is also protected efficiently, since it comes into contact with far less water than with classic sprinkler systems.

High-pressure water mist extinguishing systems above 16 bar
